Differential Column Cylinders

MARMAC developed and patented the Differential Column Cylinder to provide design engineers an alternate method of raising platforms without installing a cylinder below ground. This dependable, long-lasting cylinder was specifically designed to handle eccentric loads.

The Differential Column Cylinder has several distinct advantages over the standard cylinder, including:

• No travelling hydraulic lines attached to outer casing
• Wide range of sizes, capacities and strokes
• Lower installation cost
• Greater eccentric loading capacity
• Minimal bearing pressures
• Easier selection of optimum operating pressures
• Faster operating speeds
• Multiple cylinder applications for greater capacities
• Rotation of heavy loads with minimal force
• Simplified equipment relocation

Severe Duty Cylinders

The MARMAC Severe Duty Cylinder is engineered to withstand extreme applications and environments that standard cylinders cannot handle. The unique construction of the MARMAC Severe Duty Cylinder makes it ideal for:

• Foundries, steel mills or other high heat areas
• Damp or high humidity areas
• Clean areas for food and pharmaceutical applications
• Underwater applications
• High-speed applications
• Heavy eccentric loads
• Radioactive areas
• Seismic areas
• Superstructures that must rotate or remain in-line during vertical stroke
• Cylinder loads that must remain elevated for long periods of time
• Rotating or non-rotating applications

Telescopic Cylinders

Telescopic cylinders typically offer long strokes while maintaining a small profile. Often these features are required in mobile applications. While Marmac’s telescopic cylinders follow these guidelines they also adhere to our typical design standards including wide-spaced bearings, large diameters, etc. This allows us to continue to move extremely heavy and/or large eccentric loads while also providing a profile that is much smaller than a standard cylinder.

Common applications:
• Pilot/Boat/Wheel House Lifts
• Mobile Applications
• Ship Manufacturing
• Crane Lifts
• Mixer/Auger Lifts

Double Acting Cylinders

Marmac double-acting cylinders operate much like more common or standard double-acting cylinders, allowing the load to be both pushed and pulled. However, they are designed per our typical design standards. Again moving much heavier loads, especially in this case eccentric loads, than can be accomplished with an off-the-shelf cylinder. In addition, the size and structure of these cylinders typically allow them to handle these extreme loading conditions without external structural guides.

Our double-acting cylinders come in two variants, double-acting and Power Return. Double-acting cylinders employ seals at the lower bearing while the Power Return cylinder relies on a close bearing fit to permit a pressure differential. Technically, each of these designs are simply modifications of the single-acting differential column cylinder.

Common applications:
• Anechoic Chambers
• Mixer/Auger Lifts
• Crane Lifts
